Does this look like your gutters? With Winter fast approaching, now is the perfect time to make sure all of your gutters and downpipes are clear before the real Winter rains begin and you find yourself with water running down the walls or through light fittings. A little prevention now can save so much later. |
WOW Day 2014
Welcome to Wear Orange Wednesday
The amazing people we work with throughout the year
Welcome to WOW Day 2014. This year we wanted to highlight some of the other agencies and organisations that we work with throughout the year and very special thanks go to Siobhan Powell (Edithvale CFA), Shaun Rampal (VICPOL), Graham Mummery (Ambulance Victoria), Councillor Tamsin Bearsley (City of Kingston) and Chelsea SES volunteer members, Allan, Peter & Evette. Wear Orange Wednesday is just one day, so here are some of the things we have been up to over the other 364 days since last WOW day.

Plane down in ChelseaLight plane crashes into house Bath Street Chelsea was wall to wall with emergency service vehicles Like every emergency service member, volunteer or paid, we train for various emergency situations that take us into many diverse scenarios as we try to prepare to meet any situation that confronts us head on. Having said that, I really wonder if we can ever really be prepared for a call like yesterday (14/10/2014) telling us that a light plane had crashed into a property in Chelsea. I think that it would be safe to assume that 99% of the members from all agencies that attended yesterday’s event had never been to a plane crash before and probably never will again. We often hear people say, “I don’t know how you do it” inferring that we are somehow different. I can assure you that we may learn to deal with these things, but we never simply accept them, after all, we are still just people first. Well so far the week leading up to Easter has seen the volunteer members of Chelsea SES having a good deal of interaction with trucks and the mess left behind when trucks come into contact with solid entities like trees and or buildings. Our first encounter was on Monday afternoon (14/04/20141) with a call for assistance for a rental truck that had had an altercation with a tree in Carrum.
