Home Join the SES Training

Once you are accepted as a volunteer member of Chelsea SES you're training begins.

You will do a first aid course and begin basic training at the unit.

At Chelsea there are a number of Intake dates throughout the year. Click here for new intake dates.

Training happens every Monday evening between 7.00pm and 10.00pm. throughout the year except for long weekends and a brak over the Christmas New Year period. Because of our set intake times, the group that you begin with, in most cases, will be the group that you proceed through your entire training with through to your General Rescue assessment.

You will learn all of the basic skills you will need to become an operational member culminating in General Rescue assesment.

Following this there are many varied courses available including, land search, chain saw operation, 4 wheel drive, navigation as well as becoming a member of our boat crews.

***At Chelsea SES, we realise that situations arise that could make you miss an occassional  training night; however, it is important to understand that it is a requirement of all operational members to attend a minimum of 60% of traing throughout the year. If this is not achieved, following fundamentals training, the member will be unable to become operational, or if the member is already operational, this status would be revoked.
